"How do you ship your antique furniture from Europe?" is a question we are frequently asked at www.EuroLuxAntiques.com. We load 40 or 45 foot containers in Europe and ship them into the Port of Charleston in South Carolina. Then the container is trucked to Newberry and unloaded. Rotterdam is one of Netherlands biggest ports and it is the second largest city in Netherlands after Amsterdam. A lot of people visit Rotterdam for its rich Dutch culture, culinary, view, and not forgetting their amusing architecture. The city is also great for shopping. Well, you can basically do anything here, so come and visit while you are around in the area. The main attraction for me was the market. Just simply because I love Netherlands market and it is said that the biggest market you can find in Netherlands is the one in Rotterdam. So, there I was. Totally filled with good deals for stuff ranging from groceries to antiques. There are also the cube houses and the old harbour in the area. So enjoy yourself here if you happen to visit, cos I definitely did. For more info: https://...

These are two of my whale oil lamps. I found that there weren't any other videos on YouTube that showed any functional whale oil lamps. These are beautiful antiques that are easy to use and enjoy. These lamps date from about 1820-1830. To use your lamps, I recommend unscented mineral oil (unscented baby oil). You can find this at any pharmacy. It is the closest fuel available to approximate whale oil (which is obviously not available). You can also burn olive oil in these lamps, but the oil has more of a scent when burning it and extinguishing the lamps. Replacement burners were purchased from "The Lampworks" Early Lighting Specialties (online). Wicks were provided with the burners, but you can use 100% cotton strands from a mop head.

Every room should have a table lamp: they give low lighting, which is very different, and much cosier, than the light given by ceiling lights. The earliest table lamps were oil lamps. Miguel scoures the French flea markets looking for quirky and decorative items, and these 18th century oil lamps have an interesting history. Traditionally used with oil, they are now electrified, and their uniqueness adds character to a room.
